The X-Files | May Update

I was going to do an update post last week, since we got the news that filming is going to start on June 8th (yes, I know, BREATHE) but turns out not only are FOX Upfronts today - which I am currently dying from - but they also decided to announce the release date for the six-episode series, which is...

January 24, 2016. I'll let that sink in. 2002 was the last time we saw Mulder and Scully on the small screen, this is all happening way too fast. Six-year-old me wouldn't have ever dreamed this would be happening just over a week before my twentieth birthday.

Here's what we know so far. The series is going to be split over six episodes, which seem to be a mixture of stand-alones/MOTWs and mythology episodes - according to interviews with Chris Carter and David Duchovny. Duchovny has also stated that it's going to play out more like a six-hour movie which is pretty interesting, especially with the intertwining of MOTW and mythology.

Both Duchovny and Gillian Anderson have confirmed that yes, Anderson will be dying her hair back to that legendary Scully red, which is something that everyone had been freaking out over - whether she'll stay blond or wear a wig. So, we don't have to worry about that anymore.

Filming starts on June 8th and should go through to sometime in August, with Aquarius and Hannibal airing back to back on NBC throughout the summer.  So basically 2015 is the year of Duchovny and Anderson, and the long-awaited return of the best television show in history. Which I can totally say without being bias, it's a well-known fact. I mean, where would shows such as Breaking Bad be without X-Files?

Stay tuned for more news, as I'm going to try and keep up to date with everything that happens over the next year. I'll probably have a post dedicated to upfronts tomorrow, seeing as everyone - including myself - is losing their collective minds over them right now.
