Luxuriating acoustic guitars tinged with country and folk roots, Renee Olstead’s recent single ‘Help Me Make It Through the Night’ demonstrates the Texan’s natural ability to instantly put one at ease, and to appreciate the swelling sounds of American folk, country, and jazz.

Originally written and sung by Kris Kristofferson in 1970, Olstead’s rendition of ‘Help Me Make It Through the Night’ transcends itself above numerous covers (those include Elvis Presley, Glen Campell, Sammi Smith and Jerry Lee Lewis, to name a few), creating a sixties-esce atmosphere that only Olstead’s soothing, calming vocal range can emit.

Olstead’s latest work was an EP released in 2014 (Without You), although she is consistently recording and performing, keeping her intimate, soulful music alive and kicking. There’s still new material to hear from Olstead yet, as she is slated to have a full-length album out by the end of 2017.
