Thirteen Nights of Halloween Horror | Night Thirteen - Saw (2004)

Well, that was anti-climactic. Similar to They Live, this post won't be that long. But this isn't because I became obsessed with Saw - more so that I'm all Halloweened out and the film didn't really do anything for me.

Saw was just one of those films that I had to see. A number of times I've had people astounded that I hadn't seen it -- at least now I can say that I have. I mean, the premise behind the film I am totally on board with, but the acting. I know it was low-budget, but Leigh Whannell's performance was so off-putting throughout the bathroom scenes, and even Cary Elwes and Danny Glover hit really weirdly/cringy marks as well. It was the lesser known actors that really shone through the film -- especially Tobin Bell -- that gave Saw it's edge.

I am planning on watching the rest of the franchise, just to see where it goes ... and maybe because Scott Patterson turns up in some of the sequels.

Who knows, next Halloween might feature some of those sequels.
