Single Review | Sabatta | 'Scream of Consciousness' (2018)

Channeling an attitude of 80s DC hardcore and the overall punk ethos of the decade (Bad Brains, Dead Kennedys, and Living Colour), London based grunge-soul band Sabatta embrace a track laden with heavy riffs and psychedelic grooves that swing into action on their latest single ‘Scream of Consciousness’.

Taken from their upcoming album Misfit Music, ‘Scream of Consciousness’ relishes in a mixture of rock and roll tendencies, with an undeniable soul and funk-infused groove. The guitar melodies are head-bangingly divine, creating a punk anthem rooted in melodic waves rather than aggressive tones. There’s no doubt that those tones are still there, but Sabatta takes the Living Colour approach to a Bad Brains ethos, lending focus to funk-infused bass hooks and captivating vocal stylings.

Gaining support from the likes of BBC Radio 6 Music’s Tom Robinson and Afro Punk, Sabatta are taking the English punk scene by storm and are no doubt going to usher in a new generation of punk stylings.

Misfit Music will be released on June 4, 2018 via Blackfairs Entertainment. ‘Scream of Consciousness’ is available to stream Spotify, or you can watch the video below.
